Jack Garratt Live - Shepherds Bush Empire

On the day that Radio 1 named his latest single track of the day and he played a much anticipated sold out show at Shepherds Bush Empire, Jack Garratt's feet were firmly on the ground as he apologised to his family for swearing on stage and at times seemed genuinely grateful, almost overwhelmed by the support of his audience. Humble, warm and infectiously enthusiastic, his on stage persona is more like a giddy mate in a pub than a cliched pop star and he's so much more refreshing for it.

The whirlwind one man band played the aforementioned R1 supported Breathe Life for only the second time live and during an emotional rendition of Weathered you could hear a pin drop through the first verse. And then there's The Love You've Given, without doubt one of the best songs of the decade.

Supported on the night by the regal, ethereal pop of Verite and warehouse beats meet melodic ambience of Alex Vargas, Garratt is undoubtedly one of the most talented musicians the UK has produced in a very long time and a gratefully deserving human. If you don't like Jack Garratt, you're a dick.
